Great podcast and interview. I'm a white guy with working class roots but have always been a Republican. Here's the thing: I have always loved the New Deal, FDR, and Harry Truman. I love Kennedy and stare at pictures of when he came to my hometown in 1962 to give a speech about a Western water project. I would vote for the Democrats if they were patriots again. If they would stop telling me how I have privilege. If they would stop trying to make it a point of telling me how me and my family will be a minority soon and how we'd better get comfortable with it. I mean, what the actual fuck? If they would simply knock this insane shit off and make it clear that economics and only economics, with a healthy helping of patriotism, were what we're best for America. Kick the activist nutjobs out, and prioritize families again. For God sake, tell the fucking childless harpies to sit down for once. Stop denigrating men who work with their hands.
This isn't hard stuff. I was IBEW and SMWIA.
People want real solutions and a lot of us, and I mean, a lot, are up for grabs if they will simply knock off the bullshit and games.
And the point about IBEW and SMWIA was to say that working men are good men, and labor deserves a lot of respect. More than fucking Reid Hoffman and Jeff Bezos, that's for fucking sure.
