As the 2000's have progressed and my eyes have opened, it seems hard to overstate in some ways what a disaster they were in a time-forward way. The seeds for so much *ruin* were being sown at that time, and we are reaping a bitter harvest in many ways now, which is highly disconcerting to me now, approaching middle age.
